Romans & First Corinthians
The King James Text with the Explanatory Notes of John Wesley
English
The full King James text of Romans and First Corinthians with Wesley's note printed beneath each verse, and a critical apparatus tracing his sources at the close of every chapter.
With the Epistles the Notes change temper. Romans is the doctrinal battleground of the whole New Testament, and it is here that Wesley's own hand shows most plainly — his readings of grace and election, and the freedom he was determined to defend against the Calvinist construction of the text. First Corinthians turns from doctrine to a divided congregation and the order of its common life. The apparatus marks where he still leans on Bengel and Doddridge, and where the note is his own argument.
With the series and volume introductions, the full apparatus, and indexes of sources, of Scripture cited, and of subjects.
